Hello, I'm Chelly.
I recently retired from teaching and would like to fill some of my time with horses again! I grew up around my grandparents' ponies and horses. The summer going into my sixth grade year, I got my horse, Skeeter. I rode him every chance I got. It was on the back of him that I made my life's plans. I was in Oklahoma, but knew I wanted mountains and I wanted to be a teacher. Fast-forward past college and a move to New Mexico. I took Skeeter with me. He outgrew his teeth eventually, and I soaked his feed and beet pulp for every feeding. He lived to be 32 years old. He is buried in Truchas, NM, in a beautiful, peaceful area. I am not looking for a regular schedule, but rather times where I can fill in for those who might want a break/vacation, or some other reason they can't be on the job temporarily.

About My Experience
I have 50+ years of experience around horses (the years of experience section only allows a max of 30)! I grew up riding a favorite pony, Loco, at my grandparents' ranch. As I grew older, my family moved to the country and had horses and goats. Skeeter (mentioned in my bio) was my best buddy. I live in Los Alamos, NM, but am happy to drive to Santa Fe, as I know more facilities and opportunities will be there. Since I'm retired, I have flexibility, but don't want to be scheduled regularly. The perfect situation would be one where I am covering for others temporarily or if a facility finds themselves in a bind on short notice. I'm very comfortable around all horses and livestock. I will muck, groom, and do whatever is needed. I'll look forward to helping you out!
