Hello, I'm Maeva G.
Hi, I’m Maeva! I’m originally from France and now living in Nanaimo, Canada. Horses have always held a special place in my life, but beyond that, I’m someone who genuinely finds joy in simple, grounded routines, being close to nature, and caring for animals. I moved to Canada to pursue my Master’s degree in Sustainable Leisure Management at Vancouver Island University, where I focus on creating more sustainable, community-minded approaches to tourism and outdoor experiences. My studies reflect a lot about who I am, I value balance, well-being (for both people and animals), and doing meaningful work that supports others. Outside of my academic work, I love surrounding myself with plants and have a growing indoor jungle at home. I enjoy quiet mornings, long walks, and spending time outdoors whenever I can. I really enjoy staying busy and working on mutliple projects at the same time. Over the years, I’ve done different types of work, from helping organize events and community projects to caring for animals. I like staying organized and calm, even when things get a bit hectic. Whether I’m grooming a horse, managing a schedule, or helping run an event, I bring a strong sense of care, multitasking ability, and responsibility to everything I do. Being able to offer grooming and stable support gives me the opportunity to reconnect with the animals I love, while putting my skills and energy to good use.

About My Experience
Horses have been a lifelong passion and a defining part of who I am. I began riding at the age of 8 and spent nine years actively involved in the equestrian world in France. During that time, I earned my Galop 6 certification and competed in more than 50 show jumping events, including the 2014 French Championships. My connection to horses has always gone beyond riding. I developed hands-on experience in all aspects of stable life, from mucking stalls and grooming to feeding routines, tack maintenance, and turnout. I spent countless hours at the barn, learning to anticipate horses’ needs and contribute to their well-being. Although I stepped away from riding for four years to focus on my academic and professional journey, I always knew I’d come back to it. I was able to ride again for a year while I was still living in France, which reminded me how much I had missed being around horses. Since moving to Canada, I’ve been looking for ways to stay connected to the equestrian world and am excited to offer my support as a groom and stable hand. I’m reliable, detail-oriented, and truly enjoy caring for horses, whether it’s for a quick turnout or a full grooming session.
